Vegas Vegas Vegas!!!!

I couldnt wait to get to vegas the morning we were flying out. I went with my older sister my 2 best friends and my sisters best friend. I seen how vegas looked in pictures but i had to see it for myself. It was AMAZING once I landed i was so amazed to see this one strip of hotels and lights and millions of people in the middle of the desert. Las Vegas is really in the middle of a desert! Its so cool. We stayed at the Harrahs and I'm not a gambler but i tried the slots and some tables by the end of the trip i became a gambler. My favorite card game is now black jack. I love to play black jack the first time i tried it i was at the table from 12 midnight till 730 in the morning drinking hot co-co. I had so many laughs on that trip. The best part about vegas is you can walk the strip which by the way is pretty long, you can walk the strip with your drink. I think i was drunk pretty much everynight. I really didn't sleep much. In total the whole 5 days i was there i slept 9 hrs. There was too much to do and things to see. I saw Elton John the 3rd night i was there, Elton John is the best artist in the world he is so talented but also very weird. We also say the hoover dam and grand canyon. That trip was a 15 hour trip, i think that was the longest trip i have ever been on but once you get there it was breath taking. The Grand Canyon was huge huge huge. It was so beautiful and i took alot of pictures. We road through Arizona to get there which was also great because i was in 3 different time zones in the matter of 48 hours. We left NY at 9am and arrived in Vegas at 11am because of the 3 hour difference, then Arizona was a 1 hour difference. I felt like i was stuck in time but it was so cool because how many 21 year olds can say that. Over all i had an amzing time in Vegas and if you ever decide to go make sure you have things planed and take a shit load of pictures.

I never heard of Hunter S. Thompson until i took the non-fiction class at CSI. I was never a reader but for some reason Thompson caught my attention, maybe because he is so out spoken and blunt with his words. I admire the fact that he is so detailed it helps the reader get a better understanding. I love how he starts off most of his stories so in detail like in Hell's Angels he starts off," California, Labor Day weekend...early, with ocean fog still in the streets, outlaw motorcyclists, wearing chains, shades and greasy Levis roll out from damp garages". I feel like when he is telling the story, he makes you part of the story. I can't say that about alot of authors. My favorite book of his is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, that has to be the funniest, straight foward, eye opeing wow book. He talks about his journey to Las Vegas as he is getting high and drinking and trying all these crazy drugs. Once again i love how he starts off the beggining of the book "We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold". He is just the realist guy and whats crazy is he is not afraid to put it down on paper. He takes risks with his writting and thats why now hes a well known writter and the man who came up with Gonzo Journalism. I wish more authors would be like him because than i would enjoy reading more books.
